Diagnosis of dyslexia:
The diagnostic procedure for dyslexia is not complex per se, however, it involves gathering insight from multiple sources. Initially, in order to diagnose dyslexia, both psychological and educational tests have to be performed. Gathering opinions is also an important part of the diagnostic process. Through the diagnosis of dyslexia, we can identify the culprits and the causes of any learning issues. The diagnosis depends on the opinions and evaluations from the school the student attends, the student’s performance, a discussion and interview with the student’s parents or caregivers and the elimination of other potential culprits e.g. organic causes. Assessing the mental functions associated with reading and writing, is currently the only method available to reach a proper diagnosis of the condition.
