3. Surgical treatment
Surgical treatment of knee osteoarthritis may be done if the disease has become disabling. When it is beyond the scope of conservative treatment options, surgical treatment becomes necessary. One surgical technique used to correct OA is arthroscopic translation. It entails making a small incision into the joint and using a technique called a microdiscectomy. After this surgery, the surgeon then inserts an arthroscope that allows the surgeon to see inside the joint.
