As a health and fitness professional, my job is to understand the terms and definitions on the agenda in this field and keep up with the evolving trends. In my experience, I have found that many terms should be more clarified than those granted.
In addition to clarifying the definition applicable to health, this article also aims to clarify some related terms and show their respective differences.
Is it just a name?
The fitness world seems to use health-related fitness concepts as general fitness principles-interchangeable with things like “body fitness”, “health and fitness” or other simple “fitness”.
Although all of these terms can be included in the general term “health and fitness”, it refers to various aspects, including general and specific aspects, respectively. Unfortunately, these and other terms related to body adaptability are often ambiguous, and the consistency of the intended use is at best poor. They have a “generally accepted” usage, but individuals often rely on their own interpretation, which may cause confusion.
Having said that, can “health-related fitness” infer health only through health? not quite. This is why we need to understand these words more before understanding these definitions.
Is it natural to finish terms related to physical health?
This is a good question. You may ask what is this concept? Can’t we just use the terms “fitness” or “physical health”? Does “Why Health” matter?
The main reason is the fact that most health and adaptive terms are used inconsistently, and often refer to different concepts or concepts. Since the American surgeon published his report (Sports and Health; Surgeon’s Report) in 1996, he has taken action to try to address the worrying problem of rising obesity in the American public. Research and planning require standardization among clinicians, health professionals, and fitness coaches to solve future tasks. Enter “health-related physical health”, a working term that indicates the general health of the public.
Definition of health suitability
According to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the main authority in this field, with unclear and subjective invalid definitions and definitions that contain terms that need to be defined, helps to confuse the term “healthy.” .
There is no reliable guide for health and fitness professionals to measure “body health” because the definition of the term is too vague and inconsistent. Therefore, the concept of being fit for health should be considered. Therefore, the definition focuses on the five components of physical health, namely “health”. These components are:
- Cardiorespiratory fitness
- Body composition
- Flexibility
- Muscle strength
- Muscle endurance
On the other hand, the fitness components related to skills are:
- Equilibrium
- Response time
- Coordination
- Agility
- Speed
- Power
According to the definition of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), physical health emphasizes the difference between health-related physical health and physical health. Its starting point is the “health” of the United States, often referred to as the “public health perspective.” In this regard, the five components related to health are more important than those related to athletic ability (or components related to skills).
Although health-related fitness concepts are inextricably linked to “good health”, healthcare professionals will resolve these five issues separately to measure them.
Now that we have a deeper understanding of the term, what does it do?
Continuing from where the definition was interrupted, the goal of measuring the five components is to advise customers on health-related health conditions and use the data obtained from the tests to design an appropriate training program to evaluate it.
These five components consistently create an overall body shape related to health, because the concept is normative and therefore directly related to the health of ordinary citizens. In other words, it is a standard that allows consistent application.
Therefore, it is important for staff in the health and fitness industry not to confuse “general physical fitness” with “health-related physical fitness”.
To conclude, let us consider the difference between physical fitness and healthy fitness
It should be remembered that regular exercise can improve overall health and related health. However, general fitness is a general term, depending on subjective interpretation, and fitness-related fitness can be assessed.
Therefore, the difference between these two terms is that the health related to health can be measured according to a set of established comparison rules.
This is where “rubber goes on the road”. The guidelines established by ACSM allow healthcare professionals to assess and evaluate their response to exercise with clients and develop appropriate exercise plans. You can then monitor and adjust the client’s progress when necessary to achieve the desired fitness goals.
