4. Patellofemoral joint replacement
Another surgical treatment option for this condition is patellofemoral joint replacement. This involves the surgical replacement of a facet joint on the front of the thigh that interferes with joint movement. This technique replaces the joint with a smooth, rounded surface, which allows you to walk without feeling restrictions and pain. The thigh muscle, however, is not replaced. The patellofemoral joint is not affected, but the patella is extended through the thigh muscle.
